Psychotherapy & Healing

I offer psychotherapy, counselling & energy healing (Shamanic Practices, EFT, Reiki) to help adults, particularly women, process any distress or hurt from their personal or family history so they can feel more centred, grounded & at peace. 

I also offer rituals or ceremonies to mark or digest any personal rites of passage such as a new venture or life change.   

My aim is to help you let go of any limiting beliefs & release emotional blockages so that you can reconnect to your deeper, intuitive, knowing self.

My approach

What I offer is unique based on my life experiences as an individual &, in some cases, a woman.

I started my training in psychotherapy & counselling psychology which, while very relational, was also very academic & entailed a lot of my ‘head’ through cognitive understanding & writing.

I then became very interested in yoga & although I am not a trained yoga teacher, I still practise it regularly & it influenced my wish to work therapeutically with the body by training in energy psychology.

After becoming a mother & going deeper into my own healing, I was drawn to study energy practices in greater detail by learning reiki & shamanic techniques.

All of this has been underpinned by my connection to nature & its constant influence on my evolving self.

In this way, how I work now is an integration of these parts of me which have been influenced & informed by personal experiences & different trainings.

They represent many different levels & ways of working with someone, depending on what they are bringing, how many sessions they want & what they want for themselves.

The idea of change can bring fear, as old beliefs, thinking patterns or versions of ourselves are familiar & safe, even if they cause us harm. Any type of talking therapy or healing will eventually & inevitably bring us up against our ‘shadow’, which are the parts of ourselves which we don’t like to look at or acknowledge that they exist.

Therefore, it is important to understand the wider context of what people are experiencing – exploring why this particular issue, physical symptom or emotional blockage might be coming up now. As such, any distress which causes someone to seek help can be seen as an intelligent signal that is pointing to a deeper wish for healing. 

In this way, trauma is “not what happens to you, but what happens within you” (Gabor Mate).

How therapy & healing can help is to deepen your understanding of the different parts of yourself, how they interact & how to bring them back into balance.

In order to help this process, compassion & gentleness are needed from the therapist & from yourself. This allows all emotions & parts of ourselves an equal space so that the most difficult or painful are not disallowed or unseen.

This is the hero’s journey & it takes courage & time.

You are your greatest healer & any therapist is your guide on any aspect of this journey that you wish to share with them.

I believe that when you offer love & understanding to yourself, this creates more love & understanding in the world.
